Beef

Our beef is straight from our family farm to your kitchen table and that’s it! No middlemen and no reliance on global food systems. We raise the cattle, work with our local butcher for cut and wrap services, then get it directly to you.

Beef Cuts: sold out till mid-September.

Bulk Beef: SOLD OUT for 2023. Our list is full, but sometimes people cancel their orders, so we are taking wait list orders.

We also have friends that sell great grass finished beef, so we are happy to refer you to White Owl Farm, out of Canora Sk.

Our Beef live and thrive on pasture grasses without any grain throughout their lives. We use rotational grazing to insure the most nutritious grasses to eat, and feed high quality organically grown hay in the winter. We believe that keeping cattle on a grass only diet is not only better for the health of the animal but also more sustainable for the environment.

Health and wellness are key! Grovenland Farm beef is free from pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, antibiotics, hormones and GMOs. Our cattle eat a wholly forage-based diet, which makes for incredibly nutrient-dense beef.

According to a 2009 study conducted by the USDA and Clemson University, grass-fed beef is better for human health than grain-fed beef in many ways, like:

  1. Lower in total fat, including the saturated fats linked with heart disease

  2. Higher in beta-carotene

  3. Higher in vitamin E & B-vitamins thiamin and riboflavin

  4. Higher in the minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium

  5. Higher in total omega-3s

  6. Better ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids (1.65 vs 4.84)

  7. Higher in conjugated linoleic acid, vaccenic acid

Environmental sustainability and animal welfare are a priority. We take care to regenerate our land, putting more organic matter back into it then we take out, to ensure robust soil diversity and a thriving ecosystem, all while ensuring our cattle receive the best care living as nature intended.

What You Need To Know To Buy In Bulk

Bulk prices: (whole, half or quarter) $3.85/lb on hanging weight for half or quarter beef, or $3.80/lb for a whole beef.

  • Animals don’t come in perfectly uniform sizes, and since we want you to get what you pay for, we price each animal according to their weight. And we’ll walk you through how it breaks down…

    • Hanging weight is the weight of the carcass as it would hang in a butchers cooler (gutted, skinned, head and feet removed)

    • During processing about 30% of weight is lost due to moisture loss and removal of bones

    • Prices is hanging weight (x $3.85) plus processing fees (~$1.20/lb x hanging weight) (Please note that sausage making is more expensive.)

  • Processing through Model Meats in Watrous or Quill Creek Meats at Quill Lake

  • You’ll need about 10 cubic feet in your freezer to store your 1/2 beef.

WHAT HALF A BEEF WILL GET YOU:

We get about 70% of the hanging weight back as meat. (Your individual cuts may vary depending upon the size of your animal and your cut and wrap instructions) Here is an approximate breakdown:

70 lbs* Steaks - T-bone, Sirloin, Tenderloin, Rib & Porterhouse (1-2 lbs, 2/pack x 50 packages)

80 lbs* Roasts – Cross Rib, Prime Rib, Round, Eye of Round, Sirloin Tip, & Rump (3-4 lbs each x ~20 roasts)

15 lbs* Stew - 1-2lb packages (~10 packages) (Can be increased if preferred)

75 lbs* Ground Beef - bagged in 1 lb bags, or made into sausage

Bag of Marrow & Knuckle Bones for soup or pets

Any and all cuts can be made into ground beef. Sausage and additional grinding will add processing costs. We are happy to walk you through your cut and wrap orders. Approximate prices below are from 2020, so please round our estimates up to the higher numbers.

This is like paying the same price for ground beef for all of your cuts! Imagine paying $7/lb for steak at the grocery store!
